Our History

From humble beginnings, Steelforce has grown to be a success story in just 9 years.

Founded in April 2000, in Brisbane, Steelforce has since captured a significant share of the Australian steel distribution industry and is now a major distributor of Steel products in Australia, with branches in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Tamworth and Toowoomba.

Timelines

• April 2000 - Steelforce was established, purchasing steel through international traders
• March 2005 - Steelforce Trading established to direct source from offshore mills.
• Oct 2005- Steelforce acquires 50% of Sydsteel a Sydney based distributor.
• Oct 2005 – Steelforce forms a Joint Venture to build a pipe and tube mill in Dalian China.
• March 2006 – The first shipments of Tubular products arrive in Australia from the Dalian Mill
• July 2006 - Next Capital, a Sydney based private equity firm, acquire a 55% share of Steelforce Group.
• July 2006 – Steelforce acquires the remaining 50% of SydSteel.
• July 2006 – Steelforce bought out our Chinese JV partners 25% interest in the Dalian mill.
• August 2006 - Toowoomba Branch was opened.
• November 2006 – Melbourne (Dandenong) Branch was opened.
• November 2006 - Perth Branch was opened.
• February 2007 – Tamworth Branch was opened.
• June 2007 - Adelaide Branch opened.
• October 2007 - Commissioned a second mill in Dalian China, increasing our capacity to 120,000 tonnes per year.
• February 2009 – Melbourne (Coolaroo) Branch was opened.
• July 2009 - Relocated the Corporate Head Office and Brisbane distribution facility to the port of Brisbane in a state of the art facility July 2009.
