Dalian is surrounded by vast hinterland of three North East provinces and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, with a total population of 100 million. Dalian is a centre for shipping and handles 80% of the export cargo from North East China and serves the regions in trade, financial, tourism and information administration.
